Eddie Johnson
As a 6'7" forward/guard, Johnson attended the University of Illinois before being selected by the Kansas City Kings in the 1981 NBA Draft. Johnson would play for the Kings, the Phoenix Suns, the Seattle Supersonics, the Charlotte Hornets, the Indiana Pacers, the Houston Rockets before retiring from basketball in 1999.
Eddie scored over 19,000 points during his 17 year career in the NBA. He has the distinction of being one of the NBA's all-time leading scorers per minutes played. In the 1988-89 season, he won the NBA's "Sixth Man" of the Year Award averaging 21.5 PPG for the Phoenix Suns. "Eddie Johnson's outside shot can change the tempo of a game", says Cotton Fitzsimmons, the former NBA coach.
After his playing career was over, Johnson turned to broadcasting, serving as a color commentator for the Arizona State University men's basketball team, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, and currently the Phoenix Suns. Johnson is also an accomplished motivational speaker, and he has recently released an instructional DVD in addition to becoming a Protege Basketball coach.
